Gamespot flash advert needs blocking

Post by mdagli1 »

On the Gamspot website, in the window where you stream videos (any gamespot video) there is a flash ad.

You can block it putting this into the filter:
view.atdmt.com

(PS: I think adblock plus is totally awsome! Wouldn't advise browsing without it.)

top right hand corner of the screen.

edit: I used that "search for frame" trick that was in one of your posts.

I still don't understand. That ad frame IS blocked with the EasyList. Did you turn a filter string off or make a whitelist?

No...
Mind you, there is a white list here under EasyList, but I havn't touched it.
I've even updated the subscription.

What's it called under the EasyList?

Try updating the EasyList or something:

The string:

Code: Select all

.atdmt.com/
... should already block the ad itself.

... and that one isn't even necessary because:

Code: Select all

/mac-ad?
... already blocks that frame too.

Are you sure you are using the EasyList? Something is not right. Is the EasyList active? ... is another subscription/filter whitelisting it?

Maybe another manifestation of the "content modifying web filter software" problem?

Nope, looks normal.

Note: I'm using SeaMonkey, which seems to be bugggy at times.

Funny, this has happened a few times today.

Does it have anything to do with this?

The banner ad at the top isn't there but the one on the right I can see as it isn't an external ad, it's an internal one.

What about my cookie settings?
My cookie settings:
- All third party cookies are blocked
- First party cookies that have no policy or do not have my concent are set to session
- First party cookies that have my concent are accepted.

When I say SeaMonkey is buggy, it's things like when you load it, sometimes the back and forwards buttons don't work and that the current address bar at the top hasn't got the url of the site I'm browsing.
And having to constantly relog back into my e-mail account with a browser add on.
Things like that.

Heh, got it working, but there's a catch.

When I initially view the page, the ad is there, on refresh, it's gone... O_o

Edit: maybe the page is loading faster than the ABP is checking the page?
Quirky...

Edit 2: ok, now this is realy odd, sometimes it works, some times it doesn... >_<
Even after multiple refreshes.

Edit 3:

When not blocked, ABP active filter says:
http://adlog. (2)
2 out of 85 blocked

When blocked, ABP active filter says:
http://adlog. (2)
/adverti (1)
http://mads. (1)
4 out of 84 blocked

There is no such thing as "loading too fast for ABP to filter", as all the loading has to go through ABP.

I suspect some sort of rotating ads, of which some are blocked and some aren't

Wow, that's weird ... try clearing your cache.

I just tried it in my Seamonkey and it blocks that ad fine.

It shouldn't have anything to do with your cookies.

Cleared cache and reopened browser, no effect.

And for god sake, could you validate your privacy policy. Constantly reloging back in it driving me nuts. and don't say "put us under except" as it's open to exploition.
