Removed ABP Japanese Filters from the list until they stop blocking foreign-language websites
hg.adblockplus.org/subscriptionlist/rev/b25d041b88ba

Wasn't the list actually whitelisting the whole .fr TLD? :|

Code: Select all

@@|http:*.fr^
! |http:*.fr^
adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57985#p57985

I'm also wondering how it came to this.
  • Aren't filter subscription authors able to ignore reports if they so choose? Like not getting e-mail notifications, that this particular author was complaining about?
  • What happens in the case of multiple subscriptions? Does everyone get notified? I imagine it's not uncommon to have a general subscription and one or more non-English ones.

IIRC the author of the ABP Japanese Filters list was keeping ABP from blocking any content from .fr domains, to cut down on the annoying reports he was receiving from people who clearly weren't Japanese-speakers.

Since it's considered a malicious filter subscription, why wasn't a redirect added to move users to an non-malicious Japanese subscription.

The author of the malevolent list didn't host it on any server that Palant & Co. control.

That's what I said, and the opposite of what the removal reason says.

Which is silly and self-defeating. It's just asking for a torrent of false negative reports.
See the topic I linked to in my original post? :|
