Speaking of */ads/* not being an option
Re: Speaking of */ads/* not being an option
Believing means faith.
I don't need any faith to see subscriptions exist to provide people with "one-click" filter sets for ABP so they don't have to care of anything else.
Which again is in logical contradiction with your idea of subscription users needing a profiling tool for suggesting optimizations.
Like expecting people who buy ready food for heating it in the microwave to write cook books for chefs.
Of course it is different when it comes to Wladimir and/or subscription maintainers. I have asked myself about it and the only logical conclusion is Wladimir trusts that the length of subscriptions and the level of their "optimization" does not impact on ABP performance enough to make it worth worrying about it, again considering the said above goal that subscriptions have. Apparently to have a list of 100 or 1000 or 10.000 rules does not make any sensible difference for the average ABP user and the same goes for the syntax of each single rule, until they are "simple".

But again, I am not stopping you or anybody else from coding the said tool.
I may not see the logic of it but anyway it wouldn't be my business if somebody else code it.

Re: Speaking of */ads/* not being an option
Funny enough, I'm a living proof of this happening, but that apparently means nothing. I even provided a link as evidence that this happens. And I could provide yet another link to the Easylist forums to prove it once again. But apparently this means nothing either.LorenzoC wrote:Like expecting people who buy ready food for heating it in the microwave to write cook books for chefs.
Denying evidence when it's presented to you, sounds pretty faith-ish to me.
Here's another one for the day
This person believes that performance indicators for ABP filters are a bad thing, yet he goes on to preach about it to others to be mindful of these performance issues. Soon we have enough hypocrisy for a second mountain. But man, when you see the snail icon it means the filter is bad for performance.

Oh Lord...
You do have a confused mind.
Like IF
YOU use a subscription and YOU want to help optimizing it.
THEN
ALL subscription users UNDERSTAND this stuff AND want to help optimizing it.
About the "hypocrisy", I would suggest to not get personal and start with insults because I have done with school long ago and I don't play these kid games. If you consider the situation a bit, instead of getting hysterical, you understand that showing the "snail" is almost useless. People still have "snails" in their filter sets (like you) because there those "circumstances" you said above. The snail, being just an ADVICE, does not provide any "emulation" (what will happen when you meet this condition or this other condition) either it stops you from using the filter even when that filter is so ugly that it KILLS the browser.
So I am just saying what you read, that any filter with a snail has some negative impact on performance.
It is not hypocrisy, it is wasting time maybe.

Re: Speaking of */ads/* not being an option
I am going to repeat AGAIN, lets see if this time you get it:
NOBODY is stopping you from coding ANY tool for evaluating filters performance and distribute that tool to the universe.
NOBODY is stopping you from making somebody else to code the said tool.
My opinion does not matter.
So take it easy dude.

It's not just me. I gave you a link to the Easylist forums about someone else giving suggestions, which you faithfully ignore. The filter suggestion section of that forum has 14 000 posts.LorenzoC wrote:Like IF

It's just plain wrong to generalise that "subscription users can't advice".

I've revised my filter so it's now as fast as it can be, after a few days of consideration. I just proved you wrong there.

Maybe I ignore Easylist forum because I AM NOT POSTING THERE.
Look above, we are on "Adblock Plus Homepage ‹ Board index ‹ Open Adblock Plus forums ‹ Filters for Adblock Plus".
Wrapped in another layer of illogical.

You ignore the evidence because you don't like the evidence. That's illogial and unreasonable more than anything.
If someone claims that Easylist authors can't be adviced, the natural evidence would be to link to the Easylist forum. "I don't visit there" is not an excuse to ignore evidence.

I don't see it happening anytime soon. I still prefer girls.
