Throwing all those resources at finding a way to beat ABP and its filters so their ads can be seen by people who hate them and won't click on them seems very counter-productive to me. Why would you bother? They may think that they have forced users into allowing their ads, but what they DON'T know (by their log files) is definitely hurting them.
I sort of agree with that too.
But from what I remember from school, ads are also supposed to affect you subconsciously or something like that. The fact that a person becomes aware of a product apparently means a lot for the various companies.

I know, chewey. I think that ad "subliminal presence" has also had the opposite effect on me too. Off the top of my head, I could probably think of a couple of mortgage companies that I would NEVER consider getting a loan from. Any place that has to try that hard and have such annoying ads CAN'T be any good!

Most times I think that of ads in general. The exception is a new product that's not been seen before. And I don't mean the latest product of a company either. I mean a totally new product. But I would find out on my own anyway sooner or later, but I do see the purpose of advertising something NEW, somewhat.
