no filter subscription available

I am using Adblock plus 1.3.10 with Firefox 7.0.1 in Ubuntu Linux 11.10.

In the Adblock plus preferences I may only add filters, there is no place
(at least I haven't found any) where i can define a filter subscription to
be added.

When you first installed it you should have been asked to choose one...

If you open the ABP preferences and click on the filters menu it should bring up a box where you can choose or you can visit the link in my sig below.

The link you provided helped me to subscribe to one of the lists.

In my preferences I had an empty dropdown list in the filter field.

No problem... You probably have some addon installed that is interfering with ABP.
