Actually you seem to be missing the point...

No one is accusing or insinuating users are "stupid", no one cares weather or not a user chooses to use a subscription (they are there purely for convenience sake and the vast majority of users choose to make use of this convenience).

I would wager that your small list of rules would cause just as many if not more false positives when compared to the whole of any well written subscription (EasyList, Fanboy's or my own).

Also I'm not sure how the user copying and pasting your group of rules helps them better "understand" how to fix and investigate issues ?? :?

I have no problem with a user choosing not to use a subscription, what I object to is the rules you are suggesting. Those particular rules will cause more harm than good.

No it is you missing the point that while "generic" rules cannot be used in subscriptions, they are perfectly fine when used as custom filters.
I am not an idiot, with my short 150-200 rules I am blocking ads on all the sites I visit regularly PLUS very most of "unknown" sites, INCLUDING the one provided in this post. And I don't get ANY false positive. IF/WHEN it will happen, It takes 5 minutes to work around it, since the list is compact and I MADE IT, so I know where put my hands and I can do it immediately, without reporting and waiting for the next update.

So if you read above, I said IF you want to play with custom filters, you can either stay on the "dumb/safe" side with "suggested rules (those ||example.com^ and alike) or try the "generic" ones. I also said to not couple the "gneric" ones with subscriptions. I don't see any possible misunderstanding here, unless you think people are stupid.
