Site blocked altogether
Site blocked altogether
please see
www.haaretz.co.il Usually, the site flashes an ad before it redirects to itself. The older version of Adblock eliminated this 'pre-ad'. The new version just freezes on an empty page.
Is it a bug? How to fix?
Thank you.

Re: Site blocked altogether
ABP does not block anything on its own, it requires "filters".
Those filters are loaded in form of "subscriptions" or they are made by you as "custom filters".
Check what subscription(s) are you using. Probably you need to include one that adds israeli Web sites.
If there isn't any available, you must create your own custom filter.

Re: Site blocked altogether
Oh, you can report the issue to the subscription(s) maintainers but if the subscription is aimed to english sites it is probable you are told that no support is given for israeli websites.
Re: Site blocked altogether
I've let the maintainer of the israelilist know, a adblock plus report could be helpful... if you can paste the report ID here.

Re: Site blocked altogether
I don't see any issues there using my subscription.
You should use the "Report issue on this page..." option.

Re: Site blocked altogether
Thank you all. I am not sure why I would need a subscription. I'll try and read the Hebrew link on what to do. (it talks about FireFox and I am using Chrome.) In any case the point is that with the previous versions of Adblock, i did not have any subscription / filters. And AdBlock worked just fine. It skipped the ad and got me to the main page right away.
Re: Site blocked altogether
One other thing, I am not sure how to generate the report you have asked me to post....? please advice.
Thanks

Re: Site blocked altogether
I have no idea what is going on. I was able to get the haaretz page back but with the ads. If I have the Israeli filters check-box selected, I get nothing.
if I have the Israeli filters check-box selected and add an exclusion filter for haaretz, I still get nothing.
if I uncheck the Israeli filters, I now get the page with all the ads.

Re: Site blocked altogether
Just to clarify: ABP for Chrome still has severe limitations/issues, so you can't expect it to work as good as the Firefox version.
To name one, it seems filtering rules work only when there is the ^$third-party parameter ad the end.
About needing a subscription, it is not mandatory, it is just more comfortable because there is somebody else writing the filter rules instead of you. I don't use any subscription and I am happy the same.

Re: Site blocked altogether
Maybe I was a bit unclear. There are good chances that a subscription written for Firefox does not work well with Chrome. You should ask the subscription maintainer if the list has been verified on Chrome as well.
