Hi,
I installed Adblock Plus(v1.3.3) on Firefox(v3.6.13) and it blocked many ads.
On Hotmail, it blocked the ad on the right, but the ad is replaced with a space, see this screenshot:

I checked the option to "Collapse blocked elements" in Adblock Plus options but nothing new happened. I don't know if this is normal thing with this ad blocker, but I think the space should be collapsed, so the email messages can appear wider (even I'm using 1024x728 resolution). Please tell me if there any suggestion can I do to remove the ad space on the right in Hotmail so messages can appear wider.
Thanks.
Ad on Hotmail is blocked, but its space is still current

What filter subscription do you use ?
We can block ads if we don't know about them
You might like to use the Element Hiding Helper add-on for ABP which help create rule to remove empty space like that see
en/elemhidehelper
One you come up with a suitable rule you can post it here to help others.

Re: Ad on Hotmail is blocked, but its space is still current
I think in the current version of Hotmail/Livemail the right column can't be "collapsed".
Apperently there is only a container for the "banner" but even if you "hide" it, the central area of the page does not expands to the right.
The whole page is generated runtime via Javascript and that makes it difficult to inspect the code.
My suggestion is to not mess with this kind of pages because it is easy to make some function inoperable.

Hubird:
I tried the Element Hiding Helper but same result (space doesn't collapse).
LorenzoC:
On Google Chrome the issue is different. I used "Adblock" extension on Google Chrome and it blocked the ad, the space collapsed, and the page expanded to the right. I don't know why that doesn't happen in Firefox.

Not sure what's going on in Chrome but in Firefox I could not remove the space as LorenzoC said.

I remember Ares had an excellent user stylesheet here: forum/viewtopic.php?p=24341#p24341
See if that works for you.
