How to deal with sites that detect Adblock Plus?

Post by Poppa »

Hello,

I hope this is the correct forum to post this.

I'm encountering sites that detect Adblock Plus with increasing frequency these days. Most of them are keeping me out unless I disable ABP. The most recent one is a discussion forum I visit from time to time: http://buickforums.com/forums/forums/37 ... m-(Allure)

What steps can I take to work around this?

Thanks for any help.

In Firefox, I went to "Filter Preferences", chose "Custom Filters", "Add Filter Group", "Add Filter" then pasted the above code into the right panel. When I unchecked "disable" for this site and tried to reload it, it was blocked again, so I disabled ABP again.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

-disable all other blocking addons (ghostery, disconnect, other adblockers), test again
-if still does not work, submit an issue report: en/getting_started#problems
Then post here the report link.

I had ghostery installed but it was already disabled. I have no other blocking add ons installed. Here is the report link: https://reports.adblockplus.org/afa19a4 ... 94c87e1f16

Thanks

That did it, smed79!

Is there any place I could learn how to do this myself, or is it best left to the experts? As I mentioned, I'm starting to see ABP being detected with increasing frequency these days.

Thanks!

in additional to Adblock plus you can use Anti-Adblock Killer [Redacted]
