Youtube Annotation Filter No Longer Working Properly

Post by justaguest »

I used to have a filter that blocked all Youtube video annotations. It was:

Code: Select all

||youtube.com/annotations_
and it worked great. But when videos are HTML5 (which they are by default now), this filter appears to screw up the videos. The videos will no longer autoplay, and it is not possible to seek/scrub/fast-forward. Does anyone have an alternative to my filter which doesn't screw up the HTML5 videos? By the way, I'm using Adblock Plus on Firefox. Thanks a lot.

use your account, go to https://www.youtube.com/account_playback
and disable the annotations

Well I was hoping for a more permanent solution, one that works even when signed out.

By the way, I also tried the filters at https://youtube.adblockplus.me/en/, and none of them block the annotations for me. Thanks again for any help.

This filter works for me with the HTML5 changes.

Code: Select all

||youtube.com/annotations_invideo?*

The filter mentioned above not only blocks the video annotations, but also the video, so, it doesn't work appropriately anymore.

Fortunaley, there is a complement for firefox called Youtube High Definition. Install the extension and after that, click in the "HD" symbol and disable the annotations.

It seems that "Magic Actions for YouTube" can do the same for Google Chrome.
