Incorrect Malware Classification for Cheat Happens

Post by PWizard »

Hello,

My name is Chris ORorke and I am the owner of Cheat Happens (www.cheathappens.com). It has been reported by many of our users that our site is now being blocked by your "Malware Domains" filter. Our site contains no malicious content or files. We've been online and in business for over 14 years and currently have over 2 MILLION registered members. I would like to request that our site be removed from your filter list and be whitelisted. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

I am one of the 2 million registered members of CheatHappens. This site contains no harmful files -- please remove it from your blacklist!

Greetings,
I have been a registered Lifetime Member of the CheatHappens website for the last 6-7 years. I have seen absolutely no evidence of any malware or virus at the site. Please remove them from the malicious sites list and add them to the safe list. Thank you.

I myself noticed today that the site started to get blocked, I didn't know why, but then I read the adblocker was blocking CH, I don't see why CH is perfectly safe, doesn't have ads if you have membership, and before adblocker would just block the ads, but now blocks the site? like wtf. C'mon guys I been a member for almost 5 years, and CH is not malicious in any way.

Hello,

Report the problem on the Malware Domains contact page:

The developers of Adblock Plus do not maintain that filter list. If you encounter problems with incorrectly blocked content, contacting the filter list maintainers is the most expedient way to resolve the issue. One possible exception might be the EasyList subscriptions: the maintainers stop by, so posts in the Filters forum here are likely to get noticed.

Contact information is listed on the Known Subscriptions page. It's also a part of the subscriptions themselves in the form of comment filters, though viewing filters is only possible in Firefox and similar browsers.

According to VirusTotal.com, it's classified as malicious by ParetoLogic. You'll probably want to contact the latter to sort things out as well.

I have never had any problems with CheatHappens been a member since 2010 lot safer then the rest of the net
with the amount of members that are there then that alone should be a wake up call too adblock that this is a false positive
i just stopped adblock from running until this is sorted out
great program but its like anything else it just burped and caused a lot of problems for the members at cheathappens

Once more, with feeling:
  • Adblock Plus — the browser extension you're using.
    • Malware Domains — a filter subscription based on the list complied from various sources by malwaredomains.com.
      • Joxean Koret — malwareurls.joxeankoret.com is the source that classified cheathappens.com as malicious. This is who you want to talk to first to get the site removed. Then talk to Malware Domains and let them know their source says the site is safe. At no point do you need to talk to anyone involved with Adblock Plus, nor can they do anything about this.
Until this is resolved in the filter list, you can disable the offending filter (Firefox only), or whitelist cheathappens.com (all other browsers).
Firefox
  1. Go to http://www.cheathappens.com
  2. Click the Adblock Plus icon and choose Open Blockable Items.
  3. In the search box, paste ||cheathappens.com^
  4. Right-click the filter in the search results and choose "Disable filter ||cheathappens.com^"
Chrome, Opera, Safari
  1. Go to http://www.cheathappens.com
  2. Click the Adblock Plus icon and uncheck "Enabled on this site".
Internet Explorer
  1. Go to http://www.cheathappens.com
  2. Click the Adblock Plus icon and choose "Disable on http://www.cheathappens.com".
