Own filters not effective anymore since 1.8.2

Post by Strulf »

Just updated to 1.8.2 stable, now my own filters don’t work anymore. They worked fine on the beta 1.8.1.1184.

Are your own filters still listed in the options? If they are still there but don't work anymore, can you please show me your filters and some links where they were used?

Hi

Yes they’re still there. For example, I removed the social media crap and the Google language popup menu from this nice Midi converter page:

http://solmire.com

I added these filters that used to work fine up to 1.8.1.1184:

solmire.com##.addthis_toolbox.addthis_default_style
solmire.com##.goog-te-gadget-simple
solmire.com##.goog-te-menu-frame.skiptranslate

I use only EasyList as filter list.

Please try the lastest .1187 dev version, there your filters work perfectly fine for me.

Those filters are working fine with 1.8.2. Is it possible that you have temporarily disabled Adblock Plus on that website?

Where/how do I get that?

No, ABP is active on that site. And it’s not only this site, it’s all sites that I have own filters for.

OK I removed all filters and added them separately again, the filter ##A[href^="http://starmediasearch.com”] apparently makes all other filters useless. Why is that? It worked in the last version. It is supposed to be a filter applicable on any website. How can I change that filter so it wouldn’t affect other filters?

Thanks

I doubt that this filter ever worked. You must use plain ascii quotes in CSS selectors. Note the ” in that filter, it must be " instead.

I filed an issue to add validation for custom filters: https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/491

Thanks, that must’ve happened while I was tinkering with my filters, almost went mad here. I would never have found that! ^^
