2. Users moved to "Adblock Edge"
3. Adblock modifies their blocklist to ALLOW ADS
Almost all lists(https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/*.txt) has a whitelist inside!

Are you using "Edge" instead of "Plus"? Great.
But if you're downloading blocklist from "adblockplus.org", you're allowing some ads - even if you don't want to.

"Adblock Edge" includes adblockplus.org lists as a default subscription

Take a look at "easylist.txt" for example. This file was downloaded from "adblockplus.org".
You'll see many whitelist lines. (at least 2230 lines!)
Same thing applies to EasyPrivacy and Annoyance list.

The list which downloaded from adblockplus.org contains many whitelists

You know, I HATE ADS and TRACKING CODES. This is not acceptable.
"Adblock" should change it's name to "Some-Ad Block" or something... (just joking)

But this is not a software's fault(especially if you're using "Edge" version).
This is a filter subscription's fault.

So I decided to redistribute blocklist by myself. Daily automatic update.


LISTNAME - NoMercy
Difference between original and this one:
a. Remove/Replace unnecessary comment lines
b. Remove whitelist lines


P.S.
If you start using NoMercy blocklist, DO NOT subscribe adblockplus' list.
"NoMercy"(Blocklist) + "Original"(Blocklist+Whitelist) = Allow Ads

If you don't want to allow “some non-intrusive advertising”, uncheck the relevant option.

Those exception filters are there because without them the sites in question wouldn't work properly. If you want more details on why a particular item is whitelisted, you can go to the following page and click the “Changelog” link for the relevant subscription.

Do companies pay you for being added to the list?

Whitelisting is free for all small- and medium websites and blogs. However, managing this list requires significant effort on our side and this task cannot be completely taken over by volunteers as it happens with common filter lists. That's why we are being paid by some larger properties that serve non-intrusive advertisements that want to participate in the Acceptable Ads initiative.

So, you are nervous because google will pay something (which help also us to have a free addon and "help" also edge to say they have an addon. Edge is ABP, they invented nothing). Interesting.

2. Easylist is maintained by volunteers which aren't paid for their hard work. You - without understanding - say the list is full of exceptions.
Those sites will not work without such exceptions.
Example:

without that exception you can't see the movie.

The webmaster of that site can check if the image from chango was loaded. If it wasn't will display a warning message about disabling adblockers.

Every day - as you can see - there are lots of reports about sites detecting adblock. Only adding exceptions like that above the site will work again.

BTW the Adblock Edge maintainers are giving up and recommending Block: ghacks.net/2015/04/13/popular-adblock-plus-fork-adblock-edge-to-be-discontinued/

Still, every whitelist rule in a major adblocking list, except for the Acceptable Ads whitelist, is there to keep sites from being broken; even uBlock's own built-in filter-list, which uses some syntax extensions not compatible with ABP, contains whitelist rules to fix problems in other lists.
