Recently, I've seen a lot of websites starting to detect the Adblock Plus extension and replace the ad banners with either a statement (trying to goad you into disabling Adblock) or with another advertisement.
Luckily, even if these attempts continue to grow I can still resort to the windows hosts file or firewall software. In the end, companies and web developers shouldn’t be able to try and trick or force people into watching advertisements that rarely ever appeal to the user in question. Additionally, many of the advertisement I’ve encountered are malicious or redirect to a compromised website.
I was wondering if the Adblock developers were considering implementation to counteract these attempts to nullify the use of an adblocker (especially such a great one as Adblock Plus). And, if not, what they will do if these attempts become commonplace.
Adblock Detection Scripts
Re: Adblock Detection Scripts
every day there are reports for such pages and ... other filters will be added to the lists to defeat the anti-adblock measures. They aren't detecting ABP, but they can test if some elements are displayed.
So, if you get such pages report them in the easylist forum: http://forums.lanik.us/
or in the subforum: forum/viewforum.php?f=2
