I think ABP might be carrying malware.

Post by JonnyStark »

Over the past few days ABP has been acting up, allowing several ads through onto youtube and other sites, and just today one of those forceful ad injectors appearing as "coupcoup" and "nitroads" began infecting chrome. Having dealt with this before, with the previous culprit being Hover Zoom, i uninstalled all my extensions and cleaned the malware out. Start Chrome a few times to make sure it isn't back, and it isn't. I reinstall ABP first, naturally, and refresh chrome, and bam, "coupcoup" extension is back. I uninstall ABP, and "coupcoup" is gone now too, even MalwareBytes can't find anything. The only thing i can conclude from this is that ABP has been compromised, and is installing the ad injectors into my computer. Anyone else having issues?10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 hotmail.com

@JonnyStark

Thanks for making us aware of this. This certainly doesn't sound like expected behavior. Can you send us a screenshot of what you are seeing with "coup coup" ? We'll investigate this a bit further.

Thanks
