I remember finding Simple Adblock about 4 and a half years ago while looking for content-blockers for IE, and I was disappointed when it became a paid extension 4 years ago; I decided to look it up again and now it says "Simple Adblock is now Adblock Plus for Internet Explorer. Click here to install the extension for free." and both that banner and the Download button ultimately redirect to the official webpage for ABP for IE.
Did Eyeo buy out Simple Adblock, or otherwise use Simple Adblock's talent to help create ABP for IE? (I realize that ABP for IE is mostly a wrapper around a custom build of the v8 Javascript engine so it can use the code from ABP for Chrome, but maybe Eyeo could have used the help in making it all work as an ActiveX control.)
Did Simple Adblock just quit updating its own project and decide to redirect its users to ABP for IE? (Simple Adblock had not updated for more than a year when ABP for IE was released.)
