ABP for IE Setup Wizard ended prematurely

Can you suggest a troubleshooting procedure for me?

When I try to install Adblock Plus for IE (IE9, 10, or 11) running in Windows 7 64-bit, I see a warning window saying,
"Adblock Plus for IE (32-bit and 64-bit) Setup: !Object already exists." Then after clicking OK, I see an error window:
"Adblock Plus for IE (32-bit and 64-bit) Setup Wizard ended prematurely".

I have tried the Setup Wizards for ADP 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2, as well as the MSI installers, but always get the same result.

I suspect something in my system is preventing installation, but I don't know how to investigate. Is there a Cleanup wizard?
Thanks.

-Did you check if you have some old ABP version ? and uninstall it.
-be sure to install ABP after closing all your IE sessions (verify if any still active using task manager)
-check your other addons in IE (if any) and remove them

Not listed in 'Programs and Features' applet. Does not show up in "cleanup" utility either.
Not listed in IE 'Manage Add-ons: Toolbars and Extensions'
be sure to install ABP after closing all your IE sessions (verify if any still active using task manager)
Yes, closed and verified.
check your other addons in IE (if any) and remove them
You want me to remove Shockwave Flash Object?

Oh, great. I uninstalled the Windows update as recommended in the post, and successfully installed ABP 1.1 on IE9. Now let's see if I can get the thing upgraded....
By the way, do you know if I can post images on this forum?
Thanks a lot!

not directly. Upload for example an image using imgur.com and post here the link (or post the code for a forum to see directly the image)
