Adblock Plus

I am reallt delighted to read that AdBlockPlus is now being developed for IE. Having just updated my 64bit Windows 8 to {RTM version} 8.1 - and currently IE11 'Manage Add-ons' shows ABP as 'incompatible'.

I found a work around for this. IE 11 has Enhanced Protected Mode add-on by default. here is how you disable it

To disable Enhanced Protected Mode, follow these steps:
1.Start Internet Explorer for the desktop.
2.Tap or click Tools, and then tap or click Internet options.
3.On the Advanced tab, clear the Enable Enhanced Protected Mode check box under Security.
4.Tap or click OK.

Just to add: It is Possible for Adblock Plus to work in IE11 and Windows 8.1
You just need to *Disable* these Two Options:

(1) - "Enable Enhanced Protected Mode*"
(2) - "Enable 64-bit process for Enhanced Protected Mode*"

These new options default to *Enabled* and are found in:
'Internet Options > Advanced'

Hope this helps you, ABP has been working fine in IE11 and Windows 8.1 since I disabled these two options.

We've added support for Enhanced Protected Mode in the latest devbuild. We'll release an update for the stable version next week.

Which version of ABP do you have? You can see it by right clicking on Program Files\Adblock Plus for IE\AdblockPlusEngine.exe, on the details tab.

Also, I presume you updated? Can you try a fresh installation?

Same thing here with windows 8 and ie10

I did try update and fresh installation same result.

Thanks, that's not good! Are you on a 32-bit system? Can you check if a process called "AdblockPlusEngine.exe" is running? (On the processes tab in the task manager.)

been using v1.0 with IE11 release preview, worked fine, updated to the latest devbuild released on 18th September and it no longer works, not blocking ads. its enabled too so not sure whats happened?

Yes it does run and im on 64-bit. I also tested this in windows 8.1(rtm) and ie11 same result there too :/

Well, then I have at least a chance of reproducing it, thanks (Can't get my hands on Windows 8 right now, but the 8.1 preview is free). I'll look into it.
