Observations of Adblock Plus for IE

It has ways to go that's for sure, I've tested it and tested another product called Adblock IE by MGTEK. I hope Adblock Plus turns out similar to that but it being free of course. I like how they got the icon in the url bar and getting to options by clicking on the icon and the options being like a window for Adblock Plus on Firefox instead of an HTML page. It also doesn't have no visible App running under processes and looks to be using just the .dll in manage add-ons. It's integrated very nicely in Internet Explorer and no slow downs at all like Adblock Plus in Firefox. Hopefully its done like the Adblock IE and doesn't constitute copying in anyway.

We use a fundamentally different approach under the hood, so there is no way around the separate process. It has a bunch of benefits though, e.g. that we'll be able to support Enhanced Protected Mode without much trouble, and also that we don't have the basis to support Metro mode.

As for being slow, we should have fixed most issues slowing stuff down by now, we've published a new devbuild today.
