It isn't just a friendly request, it prevents use and reading of the site. The website is startribune.com and a dark grey overlay is applied to the entire site along with a box that has the above message. Just started appearing 10/1/15. I was able to adjust settings in Chrome and Firefox to stop the adblock notice but IE does not seem to have any options available for adblock plus fine tuning. Other than switching completely to Chrome or Firefox, can you suggest a way to overcome this issue with thestartribune.comwebsite? Otherwise, ABP has been working well! The extensions manager reports that the version of ABP is 1.500.
I am already a paying subscriber for both the electronic and paper delivery versions of this paper so I do not feel the least bit guilty about wanting a clean reading experience!!

update your easylist, it was fixed.
How can you force the update ?
You should:
-close IE
-go to ABP for IE folder, delete patterns.ini
-open IE, the list (easylist) should download
-test again
the folder with patterns.ini is at:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Adblock Plus for IE\
(%userprofile% is your user profile directory, like "C:\Users\YourUser")

The pattern.ini file downloaded again with a timestamp about 11 hours newer than the previous version and it appears that the startribune.com web site is again behaving with no interference and no ads! Thanks for the update. Now all of the desktop browsers are behaving again...
