ABP does not work in IE11 on Win 8.1

The install goes well, but when I try to bring up IE 11, the browser just crashes and continues to crash until closed. Is this works on Windows 7 but not on 8.1. Is there any hope that it will ever work under 8.1. I even tried the development version for 8.1 but it crashed even "harder" and required a reboot before I could get a chance to remove ABP development version.

-Did the browser crash whatever site you visit ? or only some specific page(s) ?
-go into manage addons, disable / remove all other addons, keep only ABP and see if works

Thanks for the tips. Under Manage add-ons, I found a add on that was installed by SmartDefrag by IOBIT that I was not asked about. I disabled it and ABP works fine. I am not sure why various companies install software other than what was requested. It didn't do anything include block ads and it didn't seem to want anything but as soon as I disabled it, all works well with ABP.

I was using adblock plus 1.3 with EasyList China + EasyList filter in Windows 7 64 bit on another laptop and it works fine blocking ads from below website.

Lately I installed adblock plus 1.4 on the new ASUS laptop running Windows 8.1 64bit. My IE version is IE 11.
After installation, I went into IE and activated the status bar to select EasyList China + EasyList as its filter.
closed IE and reopened it.
I went to the same website and some blocked ads showed.
WHY?
Is it because adblock plus 1.3 doesn't work in Windows 8.1 64 bit?

which ads are you still seeing ?

You could go again into settings, change the subscription from easy + china to something else (easylist only), exit from settings, close IE.
Then enter again and switch to your list (easy + china). See if changes something.

This helped for me:

Try this:

• Close IE
• Close AdblockPlusEngine.exe via task manager
• Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Adblock Plus for IE
• Delete everything there
• Start IE

Wait few seconds and try to open the same page again. Does this help?

I fixed my crashing issue. I checked the event viewer and saw the application crash in the Application Log. There it was plain to see that my Freedownloadmanager add-on was crashing. FDM apparently has a problem with ABP. Below is the error. I am reporting it here and on the FDM site.

I just downloaded adblock for IE11 and restarted my laptop. No ads are being blocked. Is adblock some kind of Trojan horse? Malware?

In IE open "Tools"/"Manage addons" & check that "Adblock Plus browser helper object" is installed & enabled.

-uninstall all the addons in your IE
-reinstall ABP (did you try the last build ? ==> 1.3.763 https://downloads.adblockplus.org/devbu ... ockplusie/ )
-if the problem is on your side the publisher can't do more

Good one. For some reasons, some security software just blocks the install. But it's always good to provide as much information as possible.
