Adblocks makes IE8 crash

I got a message asking me to update my version of Adblock

I dit it but the new version makes IE8 systematally crash. I ad then to uninstall Adblock in order to use IE8.

Why ? How can I make adblock work with IE8 ?

I'm using IE8 with ABP without crashes.
Try removing (not only disabling) all the other addons.

scan also for adware / malware (use malwarebytes antimalware)

Other addons may be usefull. Previous version of adblock worked without any problem

I have :
Shockwave flash Object
Adobe pdf reader / link helper

The other one are microsoft addons such as Silverlight / Groove GFS Browser helper / Office document cache handler / Groove folder synchronization and Sun Microsystems Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper

I have the some problem only when accessing some sites.
i.e. http://www.wordreference.com, Google translator
Disabling ADP addon let IE8 works fine.
Previous version of ADP works fine with IE8.
When IE8 crash I got the following error details:

We are working on a very similar (presumably same) issue under https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/1266

Has ticket 1266 been resolved? I just installed ABP 1.2.0.0 and have the same issue on Win7 with IE8 32bit. I also run IE8 64bit, but it has no issue. When I disable the Add-on it works fine again, but with ads of course. When I disable it within IE8 32bit it also disables 64bit, so that part is not independent.

Use adblockplusie-1.0.541.exe from dev builds. Can't seem to make the old version crash.

I had the same update request the OP had, followed by the same iexplore.exe, IEShims.dll, ntdll.dll errors.
