McAfee Mobile Security communication problems

Since installing AdBlock Plus for Android, I have been receiving the following pop-up message from McAfee Mobile Security:
"McAfee Security would like to send a message to 51090"
I contacted McAfee tech support and they said that the message pops up whenever McAfee can't communicate via Wi-Fi or Mobile Data. They had me put McAfee in log mode to record any communication problems. While AdBlock Plus was enabled, the log recorded several failed communication attempts. With AdBlock Plus disabled, there were no communication failures.
I have also noticed that I have had other communication failures or delays in other apps since installing AdBlock Plus. Is there anything you can suggest to resolve this communication problem? Is it possible for me to "whitelist" specific apps, like McAfee Mobile Security?
