Hiding ads in Google apps

I don't use ABP for Android, I use a hosts based solution but I would like to know if it is possible to use some sort of element hiding rules for Google apps (Google now, maps etc), they all seems to have text ads which I am not sure how to go about hiding. Am I correct in assuming that ABP for Android can not do anything about these?

Any thoughts?

I am not a developer but I doubt they can be hidden like elements on a webpage.

Hopefully the devs can look into it, apps are the way things are headed and it seems liek a logical next step for ABP on Android.
