What to do when adblock doesn't block ads on a site?

On the www.ChessBase.com site the viewer is greeted with a large ad to close before continuing. Adblock doesn't block this. What can I do?

Many thanks for your reply. I was hoping there might be a less technical and more straightforward way, but not yet I guess. I think for me it will be quicker to find a Firefox extension that disables JavaScript got the site.
