Hi everyone.
I'd prefer not to root my new Samsung S3, and so I cannot use Adaway to block ads in ad-supported apps. On the other hand, I thought AdBlockPlus was just for blocking ads inside a browser (such as Firefox), but I've seen reports of it also blocking ads inside apps, so I downloaded and configured it (including manual proxy). However it does nothing to remove the ads in ad-supported apps, even after trying each of the available lists.
Also, assuming it *can* somehow be made to work, is it true that ABP can only block ads when WiFi is used, not also with mobile data? If so, it seems like rooting and going with AdAway might be the better option after all...
Thanks in advance for any replies!
Blocking ads in apps
Re: Blocking ads in apps
ABP can only block ads over Wi-Fi on unrooted phones.

Re: Blocking ads in apps
Thanks for clarifying that, however as I mentioned, ABP does *not* block the ads in several ad-supported apps, even after making all necessary settings (proxy=localhost:2020, list=EasyList). My phone is unrooted and I was using WiFi.
Re: Blocking ads in apps
Also, ABP for Android cannot block ads in HTTPS sites, and this includes apps that use HTTPS internally.
