HTTPS Google Search bypassing Google/Yandex Search Link Fix

Post by eHuman »

With Firefox 14.0 released July 17, Google searches now use HTTPS by default. This apparently bypasses Google/Yandex Link Fix, and search results are back to returning those same old jibberish links.

While it is simple enough to revert to using HTTP Google, can G/Y-LF be modified to fix HTTPS Google links as well ... or is there a good reason for users to avoid using HTTPS Google?

Thanks, and keep up the great work with your cool add-ons!

The addon works for me as of now,
you should definitely stick with the HTTPS version.
Do you see the gibberish links on google.com or encrypted.google.com ?

Hi vinny86:
I conducted searches using terms: google links redirected and compared resulting links.

Using http://www.google.com sample copied link is fixed by G/Y SLF:
Using https://www.google.com sample copied link includes Google redirection jibberish:
Using https://encrypted.google.com sample copied link includes Google redirection jibberish:
When you use encrypted.google.com are you seeing links fixed by the Google/Yandex link fix add-on?
Thanks!

Weird ! Addon works for me on all combinations.
I have 14.0.1 as well,
You have the 1.4 version of Google/Yandex Search Link Fix ?
What is your OS ?
Is there any other redirect addon/script that you are using simultaneously ?

I have found that Google is still bypassing in Seamonkey (2.12) by using https: This started when I upgraded. In 2.11 when you right click for the redirect request options you had the option of going directly to the site. In 2.12 I find that in most cases the option of going directly to the site is not there or it a redirect option of allow going to the web site from Google https but not directly to the https of the web site that you want.
