chrome OS X: Adblock extension blocking Google Hangouts

Hi, I started noticing this yesterday, but the Adblock Plus extension seems to be breaking the Google Hangouts extension. When I open the Hangouts window, it is blank, and if I open the Dev tools window, I see a lot of errors because files were blocked by the "client".

This problem happens even when I disable all the filter lists (I only had EasyList). Only when I disable the adblock extension does Hangouts load properly again.

Any ideas about this?

From what I can tell, my settings are at the most permissive level.

Overall I find this very bizarre.

try a new profile and install only ABP + hangouts, see if still happens

Just tried it with a brand new profile, with just ADP and Hangouts. Still seeing the same problem...

I'm also getting the same behavior where Google Hangouts is blank screen and the googleusercontent is being blocked for some reason. I tried creating a new profile and get the same thing.

so, to reproduce the issue what are the steps you do ?

Here are the steps:

1. Create new profile (per

the steps in the Google support page).
2. Install Hangouts extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... hapd?hl=en).
3. Open the Hangouts extension and sign in => see that everything loads properly)
4. Close the Hangouts window.
5. Install the ADP extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... fddb?hl=en)
6. Open the Hangouts extension => see that assets no longer load)
7. Disable the ADP extension (on chrome://extensions/).
8. Open the Hangouts extension => see that everything loads properly again)

@jimas, remove ABP and try installing the last dev build (drag & drop the crx file in the extensions page chrome://extensions )

@mapx Yes I'm also using os x, so couldn't install Chrome Portable either. I just tried the latest dev build and it still didn't work.

with all the details about op.system, steps to reproduce the issue (like those of jimas), chrome version, ABP version

I had similar issues.
Whitelist talkgadget.google.com
On my issue it fixed it.

I tried just whitelisting google.com and it worked.
So I tried just individually removing filters and adding them back in. Even with all the filters removed it still messed with it.
I then used chromes dev tools to find the domain that the client used. (Use network) I whitelisted all the unique domains it fixed it.
I then removed each one until there was only talkgadget.google.com left.

Try it. It may work. It may not. It might help.
