firefox issues since 1-22-14

Last night I changed my McAfee total package tho resource drain settings, the next time I opened Firefox it went to non-responding can wait a minute for it to recover tho will go back to non-responding, worked fine after I uninstalled adblock so I tried the other versions of adblock same thing I uninstalled McAfee all together and Firefox with Adblock worked turned on windows defender and Firefox went back on the fritz uninstalled Adblock Firefox worked fine now i'm annoyed for I have to have a antivirus up tho prefer adblock to any other pop up blocker I know I have tried a few different pop up blockers and they all work without complication tho do not have the configuration I want that adblock does so did they have a update yesterday that crashed the program for firefox with a antivirus installed and I am running windows 8 any suggestions for a good configurable pop up blocker till adblock fixes the bug, many offerings of thanks and gratitude
