Unblockable elements

On a few occasions now, I've encountered elements that I am unable to block. I click Block element, select the element, then click Block on the Adblock Plus window that appears, but instead of blocking the element and closing the ABP window like usual, the window remains open and nothing happens. This has primarily occurred with larger ad containers. Can anyone explain why this is the case?
