Sometimes you might get directed to a page where if you try and leave an annoying popup appears asking your are you sure your want to leave this page.
I don't know if this is a chrome feature or JavaScript running on the page because this popup always looks the same on all sites and exits when i click leave/reload page.

Is there a way of blocking the specific JavaScript events that activate these popups?
or is there a way of disabling these popups?

An example of a legit website with this popup :

Code: Select all

http://regexr.com/
this site only shows the popup when your edit any of the text fields the try to refresh, exit or go back.

I have seen some malicious websites that make a similar style popup however it lets you close the tab or close chrome, theses are not annoying because of this reason.
I'v found the annoying popup on some malicious websites that try and use this combined with their non annoying popups to trick the user into staying and downloading some free viruses.

This picture shows the annoying popup i am talking about.
It completely crashes chrome until an option is selected, even other tabs and windows.
It always looks like this with the exception of the the checkbox that doesn't appear the first time the popup is shown.

Hi,

you need to install a Chrome extension TamperMonkey (for Firefox Greasemonkey) and add the userscript Exit Block Blocker available from about.com.
