Weird problems with Adblock Plus

Post by KrystinBonifay »

I am using for Adblock plus for last 2 years, but I haven't faced any issues in the past. I am a freelance developer, who develops add related to financial institutions. My computer has accessed by my 2 kids, wife and a cousin. I have specifically told all the people to not install anything which appear as anything(my kids watch cartoons). But they install some exes (yourlink and some others, which are weird viruses). I am not able to un-install and I can't install new windows(due to some reason). Also, I have want to know about the core of the problem. My chrome is badly affected too (on which I have installed the adblock-plus).

The relation with Adblock plus and this situation:
Whenever I share a link on chrome(using any messenger) it is converting it into an exe download. First it all start with just 1 website and right now happening with everyone. First it was occurring with few internal pages of some websites but right now, even the main page + internal pages are also effected.
Weird thing, I have noted that if I try to uninstall Adblock extension, everything calms(I am not blaming adblock is trying to install any malware or stuff, I am using Ablock plus for last 2 year and it is the only reliable adblocker on the internet). Also, I also want to use AB+ extension (as I don't trust any other service).

Example:
In the start, it started with a client website like militarybases. It's internal page http://militarybases.co/directory/fort- ... -devens-ma (and few others) were converting into a virus.

Hope you guys provide some solutions here!!!
I am sure that there is nothing wrong the adblock+ extension, but may be changing some settings here and there will result in solving the issue.

Malware on your computer can attack the ABP extension; please scan for and remove any malware on your system.

If at all possible, download the installers or portable executables for MalwareBytes, AdwCleaner, Hitman Pro, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, etc., on another computer; also, consider downloading and burning the ISO for a malware-removal tool that can run while your OS is not loaded, like the AVG Rescue CD or a similar one from Kaspersky.

For more advice, consider the Bleeping Computer forums.
