unable to download into chrome

I use Torch and have set Chrome as my home page and browser. I just downloaded the newest version of Chrome. When I try to download Adblock Plus it keeps taking me to a page that says I have to download the newest version of Chrome. What's wrong here?

still doesn't work. still keeps saying I need to download latest version of chrome, which I DID.

Are you using chrome or torch, it's not clear

what if you use chrome portable and try installing ABP ?

am using torch, but there is no option to download adblock plus into torch, only into chrome. torch kept asking me to download chrome, so I did download the latest version. I assumed I could then download adblock into chrome. but every time I open torch it keeps telling me I need to download the latest version of chrome. I really don't get it.

you should ask torch developers or simply give up torch and stay with chrome

That message is a bit poorly worded: What you need to do is use a sufficiently recent Chromium-based browser to access the Web Store, and the latest version of Torch (based on Chromium 42) might not be new enough, compared to the latest Chrome Stable (based on Chromium 53).

I installed ABP ! No issue here, all fine.

I tried to download your first link (new version of Torch) but it said it's microsoft based and I couldn't do it. I have a macbook laptop. I googled Torch Portable Browser 51.0.0.11603 rev 1 for mac, but nothing came up.

Maybe I misunderstood Wikipedia, because I just installed Torch and found that it's based on Chromium 52.

Maybe the OP's installation of Torch isn't updating properly; I wonder what torch://version/ says.

I went to the same link and it says it can't download because my computer doesn't support microsoft. Do you have a mac? So I went to the torch website and tried to download the latest version of torch from there. It said I could download it but it is no longer supported (on a mac). Perhaps that's the problem.

Torch has stopped supporting some versions of Mac OS X, probably when the underlying platform did: Specifically, Chromium 49 is the last version of Chromium that runs on OS X 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8 (Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion).

Also, the link that I posted (rather than the one I quoted from mapx) should work regardless of what version of Torch you're on, because it's an internal Torch URI (analogous to a Chrome URI in Google Chrome).
