The ad appears over buttons I want to use. How can I prevent Adblock from collapsing so that I can get access to the buttons?

Disable "Collapse blocked elements" in the options of Adblock Plus.

Thank you. Disabling "Collapse blocked elements" in the options of Adblock Plus doesn't prevent AOL from collapsing and putting "At a Glance Weather and Traffic" on top of the buttons.

If it is not ABP, then it is the absent of ad that collapse the space. In this case you cannot have the space without the ad, as far as ABP is concerned...

I would believe that it was the absence of the ad that collapsed the space and not Adblock if turning off Adblock and activating ad blocking in my Kerio firewall didn't prevent the problem - which it does.

I guess you have to tell us which web site you are talking about.

The web site where the problem is occurring is AOL.com.

What filter are you using to block something on this page? I have "|http://ar.atwola.com/*" and "|http://*.edge.ru4.com/*" blocking two ad serving scripts - I don't see any banners and the buttons are fine... And if I disable these filters and only block the Flash banner under the buttons - the buttons still work.

I am using the EasyList and EasyElement filters. They are blocking six ar.atwola.com images. They are not blocking anything from edge.ru4.com.
The buttons on the page have always worked. What I am objecting to is the collapsing of the space so that I can not get access to the buttons. When the space collapses after the ad (which was covering the buttons) is removed other elements of the page take the place of the ad. These (page) elements cover the buttons preventing access to the buttons just as the ad did. My origional thought was I could prevent the problem if only I could prevent Adblock from collapsing but so far I have been unable to do that.

John:

I just checked that site using both of my filters. Everything is blocked (including edge4u)and there is no collapse of any buttons.

Are you using other filters or other 'blockers' on your computer?

Sorry, still can't see anything unusual. Here is how it looks for me with EasyList and EasyElement:

The buttons still can be used. Maybe AOL is serving different ads depending on where you are?

Thank you for the picture Wladimir. Aol.com does not open in the same way on my computer as it does on yours. Some of the buttons and the AT a Glance Weather and Traffic Box are in different locations. The buttons Money, My AOL, Music, and Video open on my computer where you see the At a Glance Weather and Traffic Box on yours (the location of the Mail and AIM buttons does not change). The At a Glance Weather and Traffic Box opens directly below where the buttons open. After the buttons and the At a Glance Box open an ad opens covering the buttons. Adblock removes the ad and the At a Glance Weather and Traffic Box moves up to the location of the buttons preventing access.

John:

I've tried as hard as I could to recreate your problem (even resizing the window).. but I can't recreate it. So let's go through a checklist:

First, make sure that both of my lists are updated to today's list.

If you have any "Advertisement Filters", "Element-hiding rules", or "Exception rules" lists in the PREFERENCES box ... disable them and hit APPLY.

Go back to the site and "SHIFT + Reload" the page to clear the cached copy.

See what happens.

You aren't using the Stylish extension are you?
