How do I unblock a site?

Post by FatStratCat »

I adblocked an image I saw on a message board that I would like to unblock as the block eliminates too many other people. I looked under the Adblock section in
the tools menu, and saw no listing of it. Same for options. How do I reinstate a blocked image?

Strange - try Ctrl+Shift+B, you should find the
offending filter there.

But if you don't have any menu entries for Adblock...
Are you sure you have Adblock installed?

Maybe you used the browser's internal image blocker
(which is completely unrelated to Adblock!), see

yes you were correct, I got the two confused. Thanks for the assist.

Because I don't know, what features does adblockplus offer over the regular adblock? The FAQs just mention whitelisting (I don't know what that is) and "other useful features", which are not clarified.

thanks a lot.

Whitelisting means the ability to define exceptions to
filter rules. So if there is a rule causing an element
to be filtered, a whitelisting rule for this element
would overrule this and display this element anyway.

Other advantages of Adblock Plus over Adblock are:
  • vastly improved speed with big filter lists
    • element hiding - behaves a little bit like div blocking, but is much more powerful
    • better interface (of course, this partially depends on personal preferences)
    • advanced filter list subscription handling
Basically, its just a way better Adblock ;-)

For details on the basics, you can have a look at the documentation at http://adblockplus.org/en/documentation or, maybe a little more beginner friendly at http://chewey.de/mozilla/adblock-doku_en.html

great! thanks for the info. I'll definitely check that out. Sounds like a very worthwhile add on.

Is it working well with the latest firefox releases?
