Block cookies?

Post by JustSomeRandomGuest »

Since the topic doesn't seem to have been brought up in it's own thread since December, I figured I might as well breach the topic again.

Any chance that Adblock Plus might be built to have the ability to block/automatically delete ad/tracking cookies for known unsavory sites, with the use of a subscription filter? Back then, it was claimed that Firefox doesn't have the ability to block cookies, where as now it does indeed (Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies>[Allow Sites to Set Cookies]>[Unless I have removed cookies set by the site]).

I think it might be a nice little way to further enhance this already handy extension, since tracking cookies are just another annoying way for advertisers to track what sites you visit in an attempt to hit you up with advertising.

Any chance? :)

Ad-blocking filters already do that!

If the advertiser's ad script is blocked, so are their cookies :)

Oh? Well then, guess I'll have to figure out how to insert the ones responsible for the tracking cookies that come up with SpyBot. If they get around my manually blocking them from Firefox, that is.

Er.. Thanks. :)

Actually, the easiest way to stop cookies from advertisers is to just go into Firefox's TOOLS .. OPTIONS ... PRIVACY .... COOKIES and check the box to only allow cookies "from the originating site only".
