I have a feature request:
Filter list authors have some problems with the different versions of adblock. Every extension has some different nuances in filtering.
Adblock requires [Adblock] in the first line, when importing a filter. Would it be possible to create something like [Adblock Plus], when using special features, which are only supported by Adblock Plus?
I mean it should be somethink like a doctype in html.
Adblock Plus will understand both. Adblock will accept only [Adblock]; this way a list, which is created for Adblock Plus only, will not cause confusion, because it does not block the right things in Adblock.
When exporting, then Adblock Plus can check, if there is new syntax in the filter, so it could automatically switch between [Adblock] and [Adblock Plus].
Request: [Adblock Plus]
Yes, that should be a good thing to do. [Adblock Plus] would show that any version of Adblock Plus (at least 0.7.1 of course) is required, and [Adblock Plus 0.8] - that you need Adblock Plus 0.8 or higher. Which makes determining required version on export automatically more difficult of course...
I think import should ask something like: "This filter list requires Adblock Plus 6.7 or higher, it might contain entries that are not compatible with this version of Adblock Plus. Are you sure you want to import it?"
PS: I really hope no more threads will be created until I have all data in the new forum - it should take one more hour
