How many pagerank-sites do exist?

Post by guest »

How many pagerank-sites do exist? I found a site, that has it all (or at least nearly all...)!

http://www.thinkpad-portal.com/index.php

Look at the sidebar of adblock plus. It lists contains around 50 pagerank/counter scripts (sort by type)... And some hundret webbugs/1x1gifs! I could not believe my eyes.

I checked Noscript by rightclicking and the list takes up the whole screen.

WOW. With all of the DNS lookups, it's taking a few minutes to load that page.

What's the point of all of them? :?

OMG ... that's insane! :shock

It WAS fun, though, watching the staus bar while it was loading.

It was like watching Ad-aware do a spyware sweep :D

For fun, I tried to do a speed report using the web developer toolbar. The report page result in a timeout. ^^'

Yeah.. you better thank noscript.. when i loaded that page with noscript disabled firefox's memory useage stayed at 100% and eventaully froze up my entire computer. I'd like that congratulate that asshole for the unnecesarry amount of crap, and then drop kick them in the face a few dozen times.

What do you expect? The page itself is ~130K when saved, for merly 2685 words.

Well, the crap certainly raised the site's popularity on this forum. In this sense they do have a purpose - for us to laugh at.

Kind of like the TV commercials that are so stupid they make you laugh? Maybe that was the point. That's a good point.

I was looking at the source code .... crazy! Looks like its loading everything in a zillion different languages and THEN picks the one in your 'ping'. WTF! :P

Comic relief

If you notice.. the tracking bugs make up 95 percent of the sourcecode.

Urgh. I hadn't looked at the source code. Ew. Nor had I seen the huge sidebar of the bugs. I would've thought they were just out-of-the-way transparent 1x1 GIFs.

After my Internet connection conked out last night, it looks like DNS lookups are much, much faster, so it only took maybe three minutes for all of them to be downloaded, and it must've been delayed a bit by maybe a dozen that didn't load at all.

Edit: Whoo, 465 HTML errors! Maybe I should turn verbose output off. :X
