Adblock Plus 0.7 "Wish List"

Post by rick752 »

Wladimir, with the possibilty of using multiple subscriptions, how difficult would it be to add an "Update all subscriptions" feature?

Another thing is an odd observation. I use both ADP icons (topbar and status bar). It seems that the defaults should be reversed for them. Filter list on the top one .... blockable items on the bottom. The bottom icon should be the installed default one.

I find that when I want to see a list of blockable items, I am usually scrolling downward and have a natural tendancy to click the bottom icon to see what is blockable (I get only the filterlist then). I also have a tendancy to click the top icon to select the filter view. I have been using this program since the beginning and can't seem to shake the natural tendancy to select the opposite one.

Does anyone else have a tendency to do this?

ps: I know that the defaults can be changed by myself but I was just wondering whether they should be swapped on install. I'll sit back and read others reactions .... maybe I'm just a retard :D

No Rick, your right. I do this too. I don't use it that much, so I thought it was a lack of getting use to it. I tend to set it and forget for the most part. But when I do use it I do exactly like you. Since I don't use it that much though I just decided I was in the minority.

I use only the toolbar icon, so I am satisfied with the actual solution. In my opinion using both icons is superfluous, since I can access all functions with one icon and the other is redundant. (This is only my point of view. I do not want to dictate someone how to use a extension... ;) )

@Master X:

You DO have a good point. I suppose if I only used one icon that I would get used to its defaults. Maybe I'll try that ... it WOULD probably be less confusing.

I always use the toolbar button, but I have the status bar icon there for when I open a popup window with no toolbars.

I actually do the reverse - toolbar for blockable item list and filter for status icon. I guess the reason is I've got all in one sidebar installed, and to me everything that opens a sidebar lies at top left corner.

For the wish list, I wish to have (text) link blocking. Badly. They're increasingly common.

Rick, it is common for Firefox sidebars to be opened by toolbar buttons, I don't want to violate this convention.

I guess I keep forgetting that that command IS a sidebar command. I've been running the 'blockable' window unattached so I guess I forgot that.

I've been getting used to using the toolbar icon for everything now so it's no big deal. Wasn't really that big of a deal before .... but that "Update ALL Subscriptions" context still sounds pretty nice. :)

Sure, and probably Ctrl-Shift-T as keyboard shortcut :)

What about something to enable/disable all subscriptions?

Nope, that's not useful enough to justify a menu item. Btw, you can select all the subscriptions and press Space.
