ABP stopping you tube from working ok
Posted: Mon Dec 26, 2016 9:21 pm
For a month or so, You Tube has been buggy for me, on this one computer (freezes, won't allow comments, doesn't show controls, looks all wrong).
I tried shutting off my add-ons, and it is Adblock Plus which is screwing up you tube. Anyone know how to fix this?
ADD'L INFO: I read that a year ago there was a problem like this for all ABP users ( LINK )
It said the problem was that s.ytimg.com had been accidentally blocked (by ABP). And it recommended this:
"Update the Malware Domains filters manually now to fix the problem, or wait for the ABP update to arrive and resolve it.
What happened? Accidental block of s.ytimg.com (site used by YouTube to display content) in recent update for Malware Domains filter caused this. "
I looked where it said to go, to turn the Malware Domains filter off, but apparently I don't have that filter, so I don't know. - IS THIS A PROBLEM EVERYONE IS HAVING, OR JUST ME?
EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED, HERE'S HOW:
I unblocked quite a few ads that say "ytimg" .
I've been blocking those background ads yahoo annoys me with when I go to login to my email, and apparently I inadvertently blocked not just ads, but also s.ytimg itself.
I'll leave this posted though, because if this question had existed when I searched here, it would have saved me a lot of trial & error effort.
So maybe someone else can benefit from my dumb mistake!
(Though mods may want to delete it or move it, and that's fine too. Thanks!
