Element hiding helper no longer works, menu entry missing

Post by fillingout »

I'm using Firefox Aurora and I have installed Adblock Plus 2.6.10 and Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus 1.3.2.1-signed, which are the latest versions available from Mozilla's add-on site.

I used to have a menu entry when I clicked the ABP button that said 'Select an element to hide' but now it doesn't appear. I can reproduce this in a new profile.

I also tried Firefox ESR and there I can see the menu entry. I think something has happened in Aurora that has broken compatibility with the Element hiding helper add-on. Can someone please check? Thanks

Same problem here - Firefox 41.0a2. Menu entry for element hiding helper is missing.
Can't install dev builds (adblock and element hiding helper) - firefox says "The add-on downloaded from this site could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt."

download the last dev builds from:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6glkt ... latest.xpi
http://www.mediafire.com/download/a4aqt ... latest.xpi

go to about:config
xpinstall.signatures.required must be set to false

Thanks for suggestion with switching xpinstall.signatures.required to false. Now everything works.

FF 34 ? pretty old. Did you try the stable version ? (ABP + EHH)

You could do a test using FF portable (version 40), install ABP + EHH (stable or/and dev builds)

Mine doesn't work now either and I have no entry in about:config that says xpinstall.signatures.required Can I enter that, and if so, how?

anyway if you still don't see that variable:
right click on the about:config page ==> new, boolean type, name = xpinstall.signatures.required, value: false

I do have xpinstall.whitelist.required. I didn't have xpinstall.signatures.required. Anyway, I changed it to false and it did nothing. I have Firefox 34. I have a lot of addons that won't work in the newer versions.
