Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
I'm having a problem with Adblock Plus for the last 3 days. The problem is: when I'm checking Facebook, Adblock freezes my browser. I know it's Adblock and not another addon, because I tried several combinations, and tried them one by one.
I also disabled my filters one by one, and the one that is causing the problem is the (most basic one) EasyList, ever since it was updated 2 days ago, it just keeps freezing Firefox.
If I don't open facebook, no other site seems to be having any problem with it.
I made a report of the filter, but just in case it's not the filter, but the program itself, I though it best to post it here as well.
I had never had a single issue with Adblock Plus before, this is my first, hope there is a solution, because this is one of the best addons ever for Firefox.
Any further questions, please let me know.

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
Yeah, that's the same bug I'm getting, and I've tried everything mentioned there, the new profile, etc. I even tried a clean install. Nothing solved it.
Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
I'm using firefox 30, no issues here with the last dev build 2.6.3.3834
devbuilds/adblockplus/00latest.xpi
devbuilds/adblockplus/00latest.xpi
Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
I was using the latest build, but I was still on Firefox 29.0.1, I have updated, but it keeps freezing, and sometimes showing a script error. But just as before, only on Facebook, Adblock is still working properly with all other sites.
Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
can you post here the report's link ?
Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
Sure, this was the one I made before I updated to Firefox 30.
But if it'll help I can do a new one.
https://reports.adblockplus.org/42dec39 ... b=requests
I should add that it mostly occurs when I'm opening new tabs (friend's profiles, or pages) that's when it freezes, not so much when I'm just browsing my feed.
It also happens when I open Facebook for the first time, or when I reload/refresh the tab.

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
-try using only easylist (now you are using easylist + easyprivacy)
-disable all other extensions and all other plugins
-disable all other extensions and all other plugins
Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
Just did all that, even used Firefox's default theme.
I'm still having the same problem, when that tab is loading, or when I open other facebook related tabs, it freezes.
Here is the link to a new report:
https://reports.adblockplus.org/4aa7920 ... 7ce1697265
Here is a screencap when it was frozen:

At the top you can read: "Facebook - Mozilla Firefox (Não responde)", which is Portuguese for "Facebook - Mozilla Firefox (Not responding)".
Hope this helps.

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
in the report I can see you are using only ABP (as extensions), but there are a lot of plugins (or are all disabled ?)

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
The plugins where enabled, but I disabled them all, restarted the browser, and got the exact same problem.
New report link:

If it's not a problem with Adblock Plus (and considering it's working properly in all other sites, it probably isn't), it must be a problem with the Easylist filter (from when it was last updated, I've been having this problem for two days now).

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
various tests (after each point re-test for facebook)
1.disable adblock plus for facebook, see what happens (click abp icon, disable on facebook.com)
2.re-enable for facebook, uncheck easylist, see what happens on facebook.com
3.re-enable for facebook, enable easylist, click ABP icon, options, uncheck "count filter hits"

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze
When you say re-test, you mean just trying it out, or do you want me to make a report after each test?
If it's just trying it:
1- Disabled Adblock Plus - All the publicity becomes visible, but the browser doesn't freeze.
2- Re-enabled Adblock Plus, un-checked easylist - All the publicity becomes visible, the browser doesn't freeze.
3- Re-enabled Adblock Plus, enabled easylist, disabled "count filter hits" - I never have "count filter hits" enabled.
But I enabled it, and disabled it, and the result is the same:
No publicity on the facebook page (either on the feed, or on the sidebar), but the browser freezes. (no even left mouse click works)

Re: Adblock Plus is causing Firefox to freeze

another test:
disable easylist (uncheck it)
go to
https://easylist.adblockplus.org/en/
subscribe the list EasyList without element hiding
