"Add filter" instead of URL to be blocked?

Post by Eagle »

Hey guys,

I'm experiencing some strange stuff since the last update of my Firefox and/or ABP (I don't know which one causes the failure as both were updated at the same time)..

My equipment's version information:
- Microsoft Windows Vista Business x64
- Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 1
- Adblock Plus 0.7.5.3
- Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper 1.0.2

So, steps to reproduce:
- go to this thread: http://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=925
- right-click the smiley (there's only one within the whole post)
- choose "Adblock Image..."
- ABP's preferences window will show up

Now, here comes my bug: sometimes, the URL of the image I want to block is posted at the top of all subscriptions and ready for possible changes (i. e. adding wildcards, etc.).. - But sometimes, I do NOT get this and instead on get "Add filter" at the top highlighted..

Any help on resolving this bug would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks in advance,
Martin.. :D

http://adblockplus.org/development-builds/

Should search the forums before posting.

In fact, I searched the forums, but not Bugzilla.. I apologize for this and promise to do better next time! :)

Thanks for the link! ;)

[-EDIT-]

I should note that with Firefox 3 Beta 1, the updated dev-build can't be installed (Yes, I've allowed install-packages from adblockplus.org!), so this bug might be fixed, but I can't get the fix..

Actually, the URL to be blocked is *never* transferred into the new filter window here, not for the Block ... context menu item and not when you try to add a filter via All Blockable Elements.

The bug described as worked around at the top of the devbuilds blog does seem to be a different phenomenon: I can add filters, I just have to type them in manually, whereas I'd create them by editing the URL before.

In addition the current devbuild isn't compatible with 3.0b1

This is on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard with FF 3.0b1
FWIW, Minefield nightlies on 10.4 wer fine on the same machine

Guest, did you actually try the devbuild?

Everyone, go to about:config and create a new boolean preference called extensions.checkCompatibility set to false.
What, me worry?
