Empty square instead of deleted add

Post by Morran »

I run Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Adblock 0.7.5.3.

I wonder if there's any way to get a blank square where the blocked ad is supposed to be?

I want to see where the ads are and how big they are without getting the content (the actual ad).

I maybe wrong but was there not a function like this is earlier version of adblock?

What filters are you using ?

If you just use EasyList without EasyElement would probably get the desired effect..

http://easylist.adblockplus.org/

(you may need to untick the "collapse Blocked Elements" option in ABP but I could be misunderstanding the purpose of that setting)

Only partially: Images that aren't there cannot be used to define the size of a rectangle.
The browser has no idea of the size of the item, because it never gets to see it.

Good point chewey, I didn't think of that, obvious when you think about it....

chewey » you're right. if they are gone, there's no way to know how big they were.

but wasn't there an earlier version that only hide the ads (and they still were in the same place with the same size)?
the ads were hidden and there was a box over the ads with a "this item is blocked" info text.

the question why I'm asking because in my work i need to see the actual sizes of different websites (including the ads), but I (personally) don't like to see the ads.

All help appreciated,

Would unchecking "Collapse Blocked Elements" help you out?
