Bug with exception-sites

Post by Timo-AC »

Hi!

With some sites the site-deactivation of ad-block doesn't work correctly.

Example:
On www.thehungersite.com I have deactivated AdBlock and the green icon (instead of the red) is shown in the address bar. But still many ads are blocked...

Greetings

You may have to disable any 'element hiding' rules on that site (things that contain a "#" in them).

Element hiding rules cannot be whitelisted.

Thanks, but how do I do this?

I think this is a good idea for future versions of Adblock, that sites that I exclude from Adblock really show all elements...

Is this because you want to show text ads like google adsense ones?

No, I'm talking about banner-ads.

You can see it on the mentioned page. Compare the page on a browser with Adblock und one without. When I click the donation-button, all the sponsor-ads and even the "thanks for your donation"-Text are blocked.

I switched Adblock off for this site and the green button (instead of the red one) is shown, but still the elements are blocked.

If Adblock is deactivated for a site, it should block nothing and firefox should display this site like Adblock never was installed...

Greetings...

Change the exception rule to:

Code: Select all

... because there are different subdomains that are used there.

I see no use of any #element-hiding with my subscriptions there. The whole site is shown in its entirety when whitelisted.

There is also a another site that gets used there too on many pages. You may want to whitelist:

Code: Select all

I changed the exception rule like mentioned but it still dont't work.

When I open the site and then take a look at the window with the blocked elements, there is a green text, that blocking is deactivated on this site. But when I click the donation-button, on the site with sponsor-ads (that has also the url www.thehungersite.com/...) the window with the blocked elements shows (with red text) two rows of blocked elements:
#*(sponsorBox)
#div(id^=sponsor)

You would need to disable those two strings.

ps: Those blocking strings are not in my EasyElement ... you must be using someone else's subscription.

I subscribed cedrics list.

I cannot delete those 2 rules. If I use delete from the right-click-menu at these 2 items, Adblock deletes the whole subscription...

Just disable them .... simply click on the green bullet after the rule and hit APPLY. It will stay disabled even when updating.

Thanks for all the help. Now it works...

But the bug remains, that there are filters, that are applied allthough adblock is turned off.

I hope this will be fixed in a future version and till then I will use this workaround...

Thanks!!!
