Adblock Plus

I love firefox and adblock plus. But I want adblock plus to exist as long as possible.

More and more people recommend adblock plus, even known computer magazines. I don`t want the advertisers to know how many people block their ads. Why?

If them see that many people block ads them will find ways to work around adblock plus like with content which changes itself dynamically so filters won`t work anymore. How to stop that?

I suggest to load all websites like a normal standard firefox with no adblock plus addon. The website shall not see if an adblocker is used. The task of adblock plus is "just" not to show the ads.

Wrong topic. I did mean "load all ads but do not show, read why..."

People have tried detecting if we are blocking their ads or not, they then find workarounds and then we as a community find workarounds for their workarounds.

If you'd rather just hide ads you could subscribe to EasyList Element which hides advertising elements. But you'd be much better off just blocking advertisements completely and making advertisers work for their pennies.

Sorry, there is a number of reasons why I won't implement this. For one, this doesn't really help to avoid detection (or, rather, it would make detection more easy - if something loaded but wasn't displayed then it is certainly blocked, but if it simply didn't load that could be for a number of reasons). It also destroys the biggest advantage of Adblock Plus - with only one server to load content from pages load much faster, even on broadband. Finally, I feel that this would be the wrong strategy in the long term if we want the advertising on the Internet to become tolerable.
