Preferences: Find

Post by cuzz »

I would like a feature change (or option) such that when I use the find feature in Preferences only filter rules matching the find pattern are shown in the (new) list.

This will make error checking numerous rules for such sites as gmail much easier. As it is now I have to mash Find Next and keep in mind everything I find.

I doubt that this would be more useful than the current feature - most of the time you are looking for one particular filter. I am definitely not adding two search feature to the preferences.

A search feature that worked like that would've come in handy for me today. (I was disabling all of my $object filters because I had installed Flashblock.)

But I think it's probably best to stick with the current one. It's already there, works well enough, and nobody will get confused when they leave the search open and half of their filters aren't there. ;)

(But if I had thought of this back before there was a find feature (it wasn't in the first release, was it?), as a power user, I would've voted for one that only showed matching rules.)
