Adblock is blocking my portfolio on my website!!

Post by SooBrett »

I'm not techy, so please keep it simple ...

Most of the images on my website are getting blocked unless Adblocker is disabled for the site. :(

My question is simple: what do I do about it, short of putting a message on the homepage advising people to disable it?

I've had potential clients email me asking for examples of my work, which is precisely what the website is for.

Don't get me wrong, I love being able to block ads when I'm surfing, just don't like it thinking my artwork is ads.

Do I need to get in touch with my web host about this?

Thanks, Sue

 Sorry. I'm a designer, not a builder. I just know enough HTML to modify templates, but that's the extent of it. Scripting etc is not my thing. I have no idea how to stop adblock from blocking my images. My website is powered by Vista (around long before Microsoft named its new OS), a template-driven web solution with access to a management console that any idiot like me can operate.

apart from http://www.google-analytics.com/ being blocking by my tracking list, everything else looks fine, nothing else being blocked.

edit: Looks like an issue with Easylist.

What site?
Does this have something to do with "istockphoto.com"?

OK.

I removed an old filter that doesn't seem to be doing much anymore. Everything should be fine in the EasyList with that now, SooBrett. :)

Strange that the images run thru a serving string that defines them as 'random' images though.

Thank you for checking that out Rick. My images are all uploaded by me and stored by the web host for my site. I don't know why they would be considered random.

I've just turned Adblock back on for the site and refreshed the pages but the images are still missing. Do I need to reinstall Adblock or upgrade it?

Cheers

Maybe I misunderstood the meaning of the server code:

Code: Select all

... /userimages/casestudy.gif?rand=1158155068
Many times "rand=" means 'random'.

Just go to your ABP "Preferences" and select FILTERS from the top menu ... then "Update all subscriptions".

Done!

Thank you, thank you, thank you - that's brilliant! I'm so relieved I won't have to resave all the graphics as png files or something. Wooohooo.

Sorted :D
