With adblock installed and running, visit this site:
http://digitalhomecanada.com/forum/

You'll get this page: http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/errors/sorry.php

Not saying that the operators of this site don't have a right to do this, but for some reason they have detected the visitor is using some adblock technology and are denying them access. If one site can do it, why not more? Changes may have to be made to adblock to ensure it's operation is transparent to the server hosting the site.

As soon as I disable adblock, it works again. I also tried with a fresh profile with nothing but adblock, and I got the error page linked above.

With only noscript Installed I'm able to visit the site.

I'll mention it here.

Sites are using _AdblockFiltered to check for the presence of adblock.

bub, how can you prevent this? is there a preference or something? Please excuse my stupidy. I did read some about it on the other site, but it didn't say how to prevent it. Or if it could be prevented.

What I did was unpack adblock.jar and change all references of _adblockfiltered in the files (3 files had it) to another name. eg. _adblockfaltered. Then put the files back in the .jar file.

Adblock still works fine and sites checking for that adblockfiltered window will get nothing back.

I just tried it with adblock plus 5.10 running. No problems for me and no ads showing.

iamme99, it requires javascript to be running for it to work. Maybe that's why. Some sites will not allow you to see the content with javascript disable as a way of preventing that loophole. But that's not the case with this site. So, if no javascript then no problem. :D

Yes, I use noscript and had scripting turned off. When I turned it on for the site URL, I got the page you referred to. But the page seemed to work fine without scripting enabled...

interesting the latest dev has a work around. :D I made a hack of 110705 and hosted but I see no point in posting it now since the dev has this fixed, that mcm has a brilliant mind.
