Is there an issue with Adblock plus?

Post by adragontattoo »

Ok for some reason, I will update all my filters and subscriptions, pull filtersetG, import it and be good for the entire time I have my browser open after the latest update to FF.

If I close out completely from FF and then go back in, NONE of the filters I had in place are saved or even backed up. I have tried uninstalling FF and reinstalling. I have tried the same with Adblock plus and also I have tried to reset to default in safe mode in FF.

Any ideas on what I am missing?

After you import your filters, are you clicking "OK" or "APPLY" ... or are you simply closing the preferences window or closing Firefox after?

I have tried apply, ok, cancel smoke signals, sacrificing a goat and nothing seems to be fixing the issue. I am going to do a backup of the important specific files I need for FF and then just go through and do a complete wipe of it even down to any straw reg keys. After making sure that nothing other then bookmarks, passwords and needed tertiary files are copied to a safe spot I will reinstall FF and see what happens. It may be a corrupted file somewhere that is causing it to not save data.

It appears that there was a corrupted file in the adblock install. I couldnt delete portions of the addon manually. After renaming the remaining folder, I reinstalled FF, all addons and reimported the specific saved files and it now appears to work. After opening, closing and rebooting a few times. It seems to work as usual.

Glad that you found it.

It sounds like something may get corrupt through the download or installation of ABP at times. The few problems like yours seem to always get traced back to some kind of file corruption. Hmm.
